Groom prepares for the first look of his bride before their Cave Creek Chapel wedding.

I LOVE intimate weddings. They’re so low-stress, and you get to spend quality time with the people you love most on your wedding day. I could list a hundred other reasons I love them, but I’ll just assure you that they’re the best. This small Cave Creek Chapel Wedding was no exception! Everyone was SO happy. No exaggeration – you will be able to see the joy of the day absolutely radiating through this bride’s face!

The wedding party road-tripped from Phoenix to Cave Creek in a stretch limo. At the chapel’s dressing rooms, the bride and groom got their one-year-old son suited up together before the bride got into her dress with the help of her best friend, aunt, and niece. After some time relaxing, we did a sweet first look and the bride and groom entered the chapel together.

Few things are funnier to me than babies acting like adults. I was dying over this mini pool table, which made the bride and groom’s tiny one year old look like an adult giant. It’s the perfect little touch in the Cave Creek Chapel’s groom room.

Once the littlest groomsman was ready to go, the bride and bridesmaids got ready in their dressing room. The bride dressing room at Cave Creek Chapel is so comfortable, with lush soft accents and lots of mirrors! It was absolutely perfect for this small bridal party.

While the bride got into her gorgeous low-back, lace gown, her maid of honor finished up these adorable wedding favors boxes. These included candles with the couple’s engagement photos wrapped around the outside! I love seeing couples use their engagement photos in different ways at their wedding.

The big “unveiling” before the wedding at Cave Creek Chapel

I could go on forever about why I love first looks. They allow me to get much more intimate photos of that first reaction, and you two get a private moment before walking down the aisle in front of all your guests! Not only that, but we can get all of the bridal party and family photos out of the way so you can go straight to partying after your ceremony.

The pews in this little chapel are absolutely stunning. They are original pews from an 1857 historical church in Baltimore. The large window overlooking Cave Creek, Arizona was definitely a challenge to work with as a photographer, but the view was worth the effort!

One last detail from this intimate Cave Creek Chapel wedding day:

The bride’s grandmother gifted her own vintage pearl necklace. The bride incorporated this “something old and something borrowed” into her bouquet as a wrap. This moment between them was too sweet not to share.
