This couple contacted me with their hearts already set on an engagement session in Sedona. And I don’t blame them! Sedona is a special kind of magic. Everywhere you look is a beautiful and unique landscape. Just being in Sedona feels like an adventure. I will take a quick road trip for a session there anytime. This couple traveled even further than I did, all the way from Colorado for this shoot with me! So when rain was on the weather forecast, rescheduling wasn’t possible. I gave them some other options to stay out of the rain, but they decided to chance having a rainy Sedona engagement session in exchange for the landscapes. I love couples that are down for anything!
When I got to Sedona in the morning to scout out locations, it was overcast, but no rain. So far, so good. We thought we might get lucky, and pushed the session up to the early afternoon. Of course as soon as we decided that, it started absolutely pouring! We hid in the car waiting for a break in the rain, but eventually decided to just go for it. Spoiler alert: we got wet. Completely drenched. We spent the day following trails left by Pink Jeep tours and jumping over mud rivers. On the plus side, I got to use the rain gear I bought for my camera for the first time!
We didn’t get sunshine, but we did get some serious Notebook vibes. This rainy Sedona engagement session ended up being a blast, and these two have such unique engagement photos now! I love how willing my couples are to just go for it sometimes. Magic happens in unexpected ways!
Sedona: Rainy engagement session or sunny elopement?
This is the second session I’ve been able to shoot in Sedona (check out the sunny elopement that brought me here for the first time!) I got to explore and scout out some unbelievable locations while I was here. I can’t wait to shoot in some of them! If you’re planning an Arizona wedding or elopement, or just want your engagement photos done in this magical place, I have lots of location ideas! Shoot me a message and let’s adventure together!
